Ambassadors' Academy #2

Hi Gang, as I write to you I am in Los Angeles, CA at the second Ambassadors' Academy it's a little over 10:00pm. It's the first night and God has already done wonderful things. Today we sat and listened to teachings from Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, Emeal Zwayne (E.Z.) , Stuart Scott (Scotty), Mark Spence, and Duane Barnhart. It's been wonderful to learn from these men of God.

Today's fishing segments on The Way of the Master Radio went well, especially the second encounter with Jeremy (Hour 2). He was open to the Gospel and expressed to me that his wife just left him and took off with his two kids. He was depressed completely down and out. He was wondering around the Cerritos Town Square when we found him. After the program, we followed up with the good news and gave him a bible because he didn't have one. Immediately he clung to it and opened it to search the book of Psalms and began devouring the Word. He couldn't take is eyes off the the little bible we gave him.

Thank you for all your prayers and support and for taking the time to read this blog. You all are a huge blessing to me. I will try to upload photos from today's fishing segment when I get back home to Texas!

He actually did it!

Augustus, from Thursday's witnessing segment on The Way of the Master Radio, came to Sovereign Joy (my church) last night!

He was really impacted and moved by the message preached by Pastor Jay and after the service was over a handful of the men from the church spent a great deal of time ministering to him.

You will be overjoyed to know that he said, "I want to live for Christ...how can I not...look at all He has done for me!"

Augustus is joining us for a birthday party this afternoon and then coming along with our church evangelism team tonight at 8 pm--he has done this all on his own!!!

Last night during the service, I looked over my shoulder and noticed that he had a small ESV bible in his hands (exactly like the one in the photo here). I wondered where he got it from and then later that night someone told me how Keith (my father-in-law) bought it for him and even had his name "Augustus" inscribed on the bottom right corner!

Stay Tuned
...I hope to have some video footage to share with you in the days to come.

A good day Yesterday!

Not only did Ernesto listen to the program
but his four friends ran off, got in their car,
and tuned in on the local radio station.
"Wow I had never really understood it like that before."
He explained to me.
Ernesto and his three friends heard the Gospel
loud and clear yesterday.
They left with a lot to think about it!

You can listen to the program here May 22, 2008 - Hour 2
it starts around the 20 minute mark.

This young man has been trying to figure out how to be forgiven!

Today, Augustus "happened" to be wandering
around the mall with no place to go.
Then he ran into me and I asked him,
"Do you have any thoughts about God and spiritual things?"
"For sure...I've got plenty to say!"
Instantly he wanted to talk about God.
So we put him on The Way of the Master Radio
and afterward he was very moved by the law.
He got off the program and his eyes filled with tears as he explained,
"I was asking God for a sign--last night...you know...
I needed to hear from God...and then he brought you."
He lifted his cap from his head and continued,
"I heard what they were saying on the radio--
and I have done so many horrible things."

We listened as he poured out his heart like water.
It was so refreshing to hear the words of this honest young man.
It was visibly evident that he was broken over his sin.
With tears filling his eyes again he continued,
"I have done so many horrible things."
With great joy my mother and father-in-law joined
to help me explain the good news and how he could be forgiven.
"What you must do is repent of your sins (turn from your sinfullness)
and trust in Jesus Christ...you can be forgiven through the
death and resurrection of Jesus Christ...there's forgiveness for you...
and there's nothing you have done that you can't be forgiven for--it's really good news!"
We encouraged him to get right with God immediately!
Then gave him all our contact information and invited him to our church
And almost an hour after he was on the program,
we were still at the mall and "happened" to run into him again!
We talked for almost an hour. Praise be to God.
Please pray for this sweet young man Augustus.

You can listen to the program here May 22, 2008 - Hour 1
it starts around the 40 minute mark.

Daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman Killed in Accident

(Left to right Will Franklin, Maria, Steven, Shaoey, Mary Beth, Stevey Joy, Caleb and Emily)

My heart immediately sank when I heard this news. Steven Curtis Chapman is an extremely gifted musician and household name. I've been enjoying his music for many years and one of his semi-recent songs, Much of You, has made a deep impact on my soul. I am deeply saddened by this recent news. Please pray for Steve and the Chapman family in this time of mourning.

MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME.

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters. More than five years ago, Chapman and his wife MaryBeth founded The Shaohannah’s Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry’s goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world. Chapman is a five-time GRAMMY ® winner and 54-time Dove Award winning artist who has sold over 10 million albums and garnered 44 No. 1 singles. Story courtesy of: Steve Curtis Chapman.com

Incredibly painful and tragic news in what was meant to be a celebratory week for the Chapman family.

“Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman’s completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago…” (Chapman's Manger)

"But these have been written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing, you might have life in His name" (John 20:31).

Another Encouraging Story!

This came into the Fish with Trish and I thought you would find encouragement from someone else who took the One-To-One Challenge to share their faith:

Hey Trish...I live in Denton, Texas and listen to way of the Master radio all the time. I have your web site and took your challenge. I'm an airline pilot and I travel a lot. Yesterday I was in Hawaii walking when i was approached by individuals trying to sign me on as Green Peace members. I took the challenge to them.

The first young man whose name is Alex, received the msg and acknowledged after hearing the law that he wasn't a good person. He said however he wasn't ready yet to make a commitment to Jesus. He still had too many unanswered questions.

The other young lady began to eagerly listen to me. But after she knew where I was going with this, she stopped me to say she believed she had heard this before. And her boss was standing near by so she better get back to work, She excused herself and I abruptly had to finish...Oh well First time experience. Next time Ill have a couple of tracks to hand them..

Fish with Trish- Ramos Worship "From Everlasting"

My husband and I wrote the chords and lyrics to this song...
It's called "From Everlasting".
If you would like to play this song at your church
we have provided the chords and lyrics below.

FROM EVERLASTING

I don’t know exactly what this first chord is
but it's sort of in a C add9 formation with the index finger
on the first fret and on the E string and it's played open.
You can probably figure it out by watching the video.
We will call it a C add9 (strange chord) as in strange chord :-)

Capo3

C add9 (strange chord)   (release)   G
Matchless in Your ways, You are holy
Greater is Your grace, You are holy
In righteousness You reign, You are holy,

Em         D/F#       C add9
From everlasting, You are holy,
From everlasting, You are God

Chorus:

G                 D           C add9         G         D           C add9
From everlasting You are holy, From everlasting You are God.

C add9 (strange chord)     (release) G
Faithful in Your ways, You are holy
Glorious to save, You are holy
In majesty You reign, You are holy

Em           D/F#           C add9

"I guess I haven't really taken it seriously...one day I will."

Tyler was on Hour 1 today of The Way of the Master Radio.
He admitted that both his mom and dad have been telling him
about Jesus and what Christ did on the cross so that he can be forgiven.
"I guess I haven't really taken it seriously...one day I will." He explained.

Tyler if you are reading this, please don't wait another minute...
listen to what Ray said, and what your parents have been telling you
and get right with God today!
From what you told me, it sounds like your folks really care about
your soul--so take it seriously and think about it today
because tomorrow might not come...
remember you're young but not too young to die.
Thank you for taking the time to be on the program today.

If you would like to listen
radio broadcast it starts around the 40 min. mark.

Will you take the One-2-One Challenge?

So you've passed out your first tract and maybe you've passed out far more than just one gospel tract and you're ready for more. Great job! Now I'd like to encourage you to take the next step and talk with someone about the Lord.

Here's Challenge Number 2:
You have one week from today to talk with an unbeliever about Christ. I call this a one-to-one evangelism encounter. You can talk with someone at the grocery store, the mall, or at work. Maybe you have been wanting to share the Gospel with your neighbor or family member--then post your story below on my blog or email me at email@fishwithtrish.com.

If She Did It--So Can YOU:
Below you will find a few accounts from my dear friend Michelle (21 years old) who took me up on a challenge I extended to her a couple of weeks ago. I gave her one week to witness to one person. Below is what she wrote me. I think you will find her writings encouraging. Michelle writes day-by-day and describes step-by-step what she did. I hope these writings relieve you to know that you're not alone in taking bold steps to overcome your struggles and fears to share your faith:

1st step towards my challenge...
Sent on Monday, April 28th 2008, 12:47 AM
Hi Trish, I had to work tonight and I got a 15 minute break. In the break room there were two other people taking a break at the same time. Pheobe, Matt and I got into a conversation about religion. Matt said he didn't believe in anything at all. Pheobe didn't tell me what religion. I told them that I was a Christian. Phoebe asked me "Are you a die hard Christian?" I asked her what that meant. She said "Are you one of those Christians that say you have to do this or you are going to hell?" I told her yes. She decided to say "But I am a good person. I'm close to perfect." I told her that "No one is a good person and that only God is perfect." She kind of chuckled and I had to leave because my break was up and I had to go back to the check stand. I just wanted to let you know how my week is going so far with your challenge of having a one-to-one conversation. Although I haven't gotten there yet, I am working my way there and plan to have one by this Saturday like you challenged me to. I love you so very much! I can't tell how much you blessed me on Saturday. Thanks. Michelle

Another baby step...

I walked up to a girl at my college campus and asked if I could sit down.. I asked her what she was studying and she was studying for an accounting test. I pulled out my bible and I started to pull out a tract but then I put it back. I got scared and didn't start a conversation. But it was a step. I actually said hello to a girl I had never met before and walked up to her and asked if I could sit down. I felt so depressed when she left. But I am moving forward. Michelle

Well... I did it. I initiated my first one-to-one conversation.
Sent on Sunday, May 4th 2008, 1:08 PM
I did it Saturday night around 6pm. I initiated my first one-to-one conversation. Here is my story. I had been watching a couple of girls beside a fountain down in Glendale and they were just chatting together. I felt this deep feeling inside of me tell me to go and start a conversation with them. I told myself no in my head. But it kept nagging at me to share with them. So finally I said yes.. My heart was pounding in my chest. I looked at my dad and said to him that I want to have a conversation with the girls. Oh no... I thought there is no turning back now... My dad asked me if I wanted some back up and if I wanted him to go with me. I shook my head yes. So we headed over to them.

We walked up to the girls my heart still pounding in my chest. I had a couple million dollar bills with me. "Did you get one of these?" I handed it to them. "Do you know what the million dollar question is? What?, they asked. "Do you know what happens to somebody when they die?" Silence. She said something that I don't remember. I had no idea what to say next. I looked to my dad for help. "Well what do you think you have to do to go to heaven? Be a good person?" he asked. One of the girls said "yes." "Would you like to go through a good person test to see if that is true?" he asked. "Yes." I then took it from there. "Have you ever told a lie? Yes she replied. If I lied to you what would you call me? I don't know, she replied. I then look up at my dad again for help. He said "It rhymes with fire and starts with an L." She shrugged her shoulders. "Liar." I asked her "Have you ever stolen anything, even something small, downloaded music that you didn't pay for?" "No." "Have you used God's name to express disgust, like saying Oh my g.." "Huh" She wasn't understanding. Her friend standing next to her try to explain. "Like saying Oh my God." "Yes." the other girl said. That's called blasphemy. The girl still didn't seem to understand. The other girls phone started to go off. She said "You know what we have to go. Our ride is here." "Oh Okay." I said.

And that was it. That was the conversation I had. After that I talked to my dad and he said that he thought there was probably a language barrier between us...After that I was able to hand out about 4-500 tracts that night. When I got back to the car, I broke down in tears. I was so sorry that I couldn't really get in a deep conversation and share the gospel with those two girls because I was literally shaking with nervousness, my heart pounding and stuttering my words a lot and they had to leave as well. That was a huge step out of my comfort zone... Never before had I taken so huge a step in my life to share the gospel with someone.

About one week later Michelle share the good news with another person, she writes:
My friend and I together were able to have a one-to-one conversation with two 15 year old boys. We were able to get through the law and the gospel between the two of us. It seemed so much easier sharing the law and the gospel when I had someone that ping-ponged back and forth with me. She would do one section and then I would and we would go back and forth. Love ya! Michelle

Enter to WIN a FREE copy of "Springboards for Budding Preachers”!

This is a 5-CD, 1-MP3 disk set, with forty-one messages. Living Waters no longer carries this. However, they do carry the transcripts in book form. I had an extra copy of the CD/MP3 set and wanted one of you to have it.

Here is what to do: Leave a comment below with your name and some way for me to contact you if you win (email or blog link is fine). Comments will be opened through next Monday and a winner will be randomly chosen next Tuesday. Open to U.S. residents only.

What's the set about? For more than two and a half years, Ray Comfort and Emeal "E.Z." Zwayne, preached the gospel on public land in front of a courthouse in Bellflower, California. Each day they were able to share with between 40 and 60 people who were lined up waiting to enter the building. During that time, an estimated 30,000 people heard the gospel. However, on Friday September 30th, 2005, a Los Angeles judge issued a court order forbidding free speech on public soil — not only outside of the Bellflower Courts but on the grounds of more than forty courthouses in Los Angeles County. Fortunately, our sound-man Stuart Scott recorded the last 29 days of the preaching.

One-Day Evangelism Crash Course is CANCELLED!

We have CANCELLED the Evangelism Crash Course that was scheduled for tomorrow at Patillo Baptist Church. A tragic car accident happened last night involving 3 people, two of which were members of Patillo Baptist Church. Lezlee Stone, 43, and her daughter Jaci Stone, 9, where struck in a head on collision in Palo Pinto County near Lipan.

Hours ago, I spoke with my dear friend Devin Gulliford (Senior Pastor of Padillo Baptist) and he said that the surviving husband, Johnny Stone, is doing well and trusting in the providence of God. You will be comforted to know that both Lezlee and Jaci were Christians (Pastor Devin had recently baptized Jaci). I'm not sure about the driver of the other vehicle (Robert Hudson) but he too was killed.

I value your prayers for Patillo Baptist Church , Pastor Devin Gulliford, and of course the surviving family members that were left behind and are grieving the loss of those involved in the accident. I am deeply saddened by the news of this tragedy. Our church, Sovereign Joy Community Church, will be in much prayer for our brother.

Christian Buddhist?! Huh?

Lenny was on The Way of the Master Hour 1 and it was probably
the most unusual encounter I've heard in awhile
If you were listening in--I think you'd agree! :-)

Surprisingly, Lenny was very kind to me after he got off the air.
Maybe it was because I didn't get into anything with him.
If you missed this segment you can tune in to see why.
It starts about 40 minutes into the program Listen HERE
Note: We have removed Lenny's pics because of a personal request from Lenny.

Here's the highlights!

"Very cool opportunity!
Only God can use highlights to reach the lost! :)
...Post a picture of your hair!"

Thanks Erika! Here's the highlights:

"I like your hair?"

I had a layover in Indianapolis and minutes before boarding the plane I walked past a group of youngsters and heard one whisper, "I like her hair."

"This is a perfect opportunity to give them tracts!" I thought.

So I turned around and with a smile I said, "Did one of you say, "I like her hair?"

"Yes...I did!" exclaimed one teen-age girl.

I was extremely grateful for the comment because a friend high-lighted my hair the week prior and it turned out to be far more blond than I expected.

So I pulled out a stack of million dollar bill tracts and said, "Since you made such a nice comment about my hair this is for you and all your friends! It's a way of me saying thank you for your kindness!" They busted into laughter and began passing the millions to one another.

Then I said, "Since you like those so much--I have something else for you." I reached into my purse and demonstrated the pink and blue gospel tracts. They were totally dumbfounded as to how the trick worked. I explained that it was an illusion, and told them to make sure and read the back.

As I walked off to catch my plane, I looked back over my shoulder to wave to them, but each had their heads down and were intensely reading the tracts. So the next time anyone pays you a compliment...seize the moment and hand them a gospel tract as a way of expressing your gratitude.

What to do with the Law?

"What do you do with the law after after you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior"
You use it for evangelism and you obey the Gospel. The law is for the unrighteous not the righteous and if you are in Christ you have been made righteous by His work on the cross (1 Timothy 9-10).

I want to find God--I've been looking 4 Him!

This is a day I don't think I will ever forget!

What others are saying about the "One Day Seminar"

The "One Day Seminar" changed my life forever! It is something that every Christian should be exposed to! Kim (Dallas, TX)

I just wanted to take some time to tell you how blessed I was to attend The One-Day Evangelism Crash Course, in August. In my 9 years as a Christian, I have never been more awestruck and convicted as I was when I was sitting during the different sessions. To think how selfish I was to keep God’s grace and mercy to myself and not want to share His blessings with others whose salvation I SHOULD BE concerned about. This whole event actually came through the encouragement of my teenage son who has been participating in Saturday night evangelism, and his new found passion to share the Good News with strangers. Until that day, I would tentatively share my faith with family and friends and not consider asking open ended questions to understand where they stood with their faith. About 2 weeks after the event, God gave me courage to use my new tools to share with my unsaved Grandmother and Mother. I grabbed my worksheet and bible and lovingly began my steps (boldly I might add with both of them at the same time) – in the end my mother asked, “What do people mean when they say they are born again?” Praise God! Elva Barrica (wife, mother of three, and businesswoman)

I forgot that my good friend Chris was filming this whole witnessing encounter. This was shot during the Ambassadors' Academy right after Tony Miano did a baptism. These young men watched the entire baptism--what a perfect springboard for the Gospel!

The Way of the Master Radio Yesterday-Hour 2 with Sadie

"Sadie what is your number one fear in life?" I asked.
"Living in utter confusion and chaos...
I just want peace--I want to find peace...
I've been thinking about God and even praying lately."

I thank God that I had the opportunity
to share the Good news with Sadie.
I explained to her how God's law is like a mirror
to show us how we look according to God.
"It's frightening to think I've broke the laws of God."
Sadie expressed.

Sadie will only find peace with God through Christ
and this is the best peace anyone can ever obtain.
I pleaded with her to get right with God and not wait.
Only the Lord knows what she will do next.
You can listen to the full radio segment HERE.
It starts about 20 minutes into the hour.

The Way of the Master Radio Yesterday-Hour 1 with Ariana

Ariana seemed very open to the Gospel
and told me after she got off the air with Todd Friel
that she would really "think about everything".
She said that while she was speaking with Todd the thought crossed
her mind that if she and her friend where to crash their car
on the way home that they would go "straight to hell".
I gave her the good news, plus a few Gospel tracts...she was grateful.
I prayed for her before we parted ways.

You can listen to the full radio segment HERE.
It starts about 40 minutes into the hour.

Learn About Islam-Meet Abdul (an Imam)

When talking to Muslim's I usually take them through the law like I would anyone else and then I will ask them If Mohammad was a good trustworthy prophet. They answer, "Of course." Then I ask them, "What did Mohammad say about the Prophet Jesus." Usually they will say, "Prophet Mohammad said that Prophet Jesus was a good Prophet." Then I ask them, "Did Mohammad tell the truth?" They say, "Of course." At this point I have established in there mind that the Prophet Jesus was reliable and good so then I give them the gospel and if they deny the words of Jesus then they are calling their own Prophet a liar.

My husband (Emilio Ramos) has an introductory teaching on Islam and a teaching on the composition of the Quran that you might find helpful. You can listen HERE

The Way of the Master Radio spot starts at the 40 minute mark and continues for two segments you can listen HERE

Special thanks to my good friend Michael Hampton for editing this video!
