Don't forget about your mom

The below message recently was sent to me and I was struck by the precious young lady's devotion to her mother and her boldness to share the Gospel with her mom even when it was hard. If you have a mom that doesn't know the Lord, may this email serve as an encouragement to you. Don't lose heart. If God is able to do this for my mom and Jameka's, He is more than able to do the same for your loved one. Remember that you will only have one mom. Take some time to pour into her life today. Here's the email and read what God did through Jameka:

"God has allowed me to sow into my mother for over a year. Since realizing I was a false convert my relationships with my family changed dramatically. She used to tell me that she thought I was "crazy" and I didn't love her because I was different. Taking her through the law was one of the hardest things I have ever done. At times she responded defensively! Then SHE finally saw her predicament, she realized that she was a false convert! It's been about a month since she told me that she repented and put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ for her salvation alone! Since then she has shared with me how her thoughts, actions, and appetite has been changing. She has been listening in to services from our ministry because of the distance between us. Soon she plans to travel to fellowship with us here in Orlando. I visited her yesterday and she asked me for some tracts so that she could start handing them out. She called me last night telling me that she had given one to a cashier and left some in a restaurant... - Jameka"

I so needed this. I've been praying for my mom for years, for God to open her eyes and grant her repentance. She has heard the gospel correctly (via the law) many times, but she thinks it's "too harsh".
When my husband, who was a false convert from childhood, was saved last year, I had high hopes that his testimony would open her eyes.
It IS hard presenting the gospel to a professing believer. They accuse you of being self-righteous and not caring about them, when you are doing the most caring thing you can possibly do for them-- facing rejection for their sake.
But God is faithful! I'm praying that He will take my little seeds and use them for His glory in His perfect time.

Thank you Jesus, beautiful Savior. It can be hard to share the law and gospel with family and friends. May your story encourage other brothers and sisters to boldly reach out to others with the gospel in love. Above all, God be glorified.

So I see that you guys have no qualms in destroying families as long as it furthers your agenda.

Why am I not surprised? Harassing the general public is nothing new to LWP, so why not close relatives?

Of course, for those being harassed by an evangelical relative, there are ways to deal with it.

It all about emotional attachment and how close you are to the person. If you only see these relatives once a year, then just bear and grin. There is no point to make a fuss about it, since you will only see them once a year.

Also, are they close relatives or distant relatives? If they are distant (Like a cousin) then you can easily disassociate yourself from them. You have no real emotional attachment to them, and it's just an unfortunate fact of life that you just so happen to be related to them.

However, if they are a closer relative (Father, mother, sibling, ect), things can go sour. Many will begin relentless attacks and hope that with continuous harassment, you will cave in. This will take the form of singing hymns, propaganda, and snide remarks using a religious overlay.

Others will be more passive. They will wait for opportunities, like when you're emotionally distraught, like vultures on a carcass. Rather than actually be a helping hand or a listening ear, the evangelist is told by his pastors that it's a "good time to speak about the gospel".

The best way to deal with this, is to use passive resistance, deny their requests, refuse to adhere to evangelical ideology, and of course, disregard any tracts as rubbish, disposing of propaganda in the nearest paper-shredder or waste-basket.

Keep that door open however. Eventually the church they belong to will turn on them for some arbitrary reason or another and you, who has not turned their back on them despite philosophical differences, will show them to be stronger and more forgiving than these socio-political annoyances.

I must respectfully decline that request. I do not wish for my location to be revealed and I have no need or want for your propaganda. That information is private and will remain so.

Yours in defiance,

Jameka is so right. Don't give up even though it is hard. I honestly don't know if my mother is saved or not, though I suspect she is a false convert. She did not really listen when I tried to talk to her. Now she has Alzheimer's--who knows how much she understands? I talk to her and pray out loud with and for her hoping it is not too late. (And yes, I know God is in charge--thankfully!)

Noah, talking to your family is hard because you don't want to disrupt the bonds that are there. But if you truly love them, you desire for them to have eternal life as well, so we try. Truly it is not out of a desire to annoy!

First, there is no such thing as eternal life. That is a superstition. You can claim it until the cows come home, but that simply won't do. No evidence of it. None.

The evangelical movement, with it's desire for expansion is simply divisive. Such behavior forces many to "burn bridges" with people who are too far indoctrinated with such retrograde ideology.

I sincerely hope that you won't be of those who will have alienated all their relatives over trivialities.

Noah Buddy, no problem. If you ever get a PO Box or change your mind the offer will still stand. Thanks.

PO boxes can still be traced. So no chance of that. And besides any gifts that come from LWP I would refuse on the basis of two very simple reasons;

1) It is financed by the money of the people you suckered into buying your propaganda. It's blood money.

2) You would only re-use said address to send me religious junk-mail. I know this from other people of which have unfortunately "taken the bait".

Bottom line? Don't hold your breath.

Would you mind sharing the basis for this conclusion? Do you have anything except "no evidence"?

You may say, "I see no evidience of eternal life", but to state catagoricaly "there is no eternal life" seems logically flawed without absolute proof.

Thanks

Alright Mike, first of all, I know the angle you're coming from. It's a variant of "You don't know how much gold there is in China" schtick.

You do realize that we document these things right?

Anyways, I don't need "absolute proof" to debunk this. It's not rocket science. It's basic biology (With some gerontology thrown in for good mesure).

No Human in the course of the 2.6 million years of Human history (Starting from the Paleolithic till current times) has had a life span that exceeded 150. The longest life-span recorded for a Human was Jeanne Calment who lived to 122 years old.

No eternal life. None. In fact, it is estimated that babies born right now will only live to be 150 years old (Source: Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence, Cambridge University).

While there are organisms who are "functionally immortal", like the HeLa cells. But these are not Human (Even though the cells are human-derived).

But those are man-made. Another "functionally immortal" organism is the Great Basin Bristlecone Pine with specimens living to be 4600 years old. Again, non-Human.

Still, they are immortal as long as the conditions for their survival are met. They are "Immortal" just not "Eternal".

No evidence of this has been detected in a Human. No spontaneous regeneration, no ressurections, no immortality, and even less eternal life.

And that is my proof. Unless you can provide me with a Human (and I mean a HUMAN, as in "Homo Sapien") that is functionally immortal, with evidence of his existence and biological proof of said immortality (Those are easily tested) then I will reconsider this.

Otherwise, it's is just a far-fetched claim by those adhering to a primitive belief.

I agree with Turek, I don't have enough faith to be an atheist either. Think I'll stick to my primitive belief

Hope you repent one day and maybe write a book like "There is a God"! Oh yeah, Flew already did that! Well there are other catchy titles left.

Paul used basic biology, when comparing the resurection body and a seed in 1 Corinthians 15:35-38 ... But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?” You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body.

Do you consider the Bible as a total myth?

I consider the bible a collection of myths, based on other myths that were collected and adapted over the millenia. The roots of the old testament can be found in found in older myths, like the epic of Gilgamesh (of Summerian origins).

As for the rest of your post, I will just ignore. Rhethoric like that doesn't sway me and Bible quotes are not worth my time as I don't bother with myths (in other words, any attempts at "bait-and-switch" will fail on your part).

Noah,
I guess we have something in common then, we both think the other’s arguments are absurd!

I do however believe the God who created the world and all that is in them can take an unbelieving heart of stone such as yours and through a work of the Holy Spirit in conjunction with God’s word make you a willing recipient of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Seen it happen and that is my prayer for you. I wouldn’t give you a snowballs chance in Hondo, TX in the middle of August to get me to see things your way though.

Which leads to another question, why waste your limited time on this planet trying to debunk useless myths and the people who believe them? These myths must really be a thorn in your side for you to have gone to the lengths you have, to, ahem, disprove. Ever wonder why that is? All the work you’ve done and still your conscience accuses you, else you would let us ridiculous myth believers wallow in the mire our futile belief system. Seems somewhat irrational of you!

I leave you with this;
1 Corinthians 1:18-25
18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

And then in
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” 20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

The beliefs unto themselves are not dangerous. Those who believe them are. I only need to remind you of a recent president who believed in these archaic beliefs and the end result.

As for the rest, I am already familiar with Ray's little tricks, what makes you think I will fall for that?
