Our Inheritance

With the economy the way it is, I've been thinking a lot about how people, who don't know Christ, are responding to all the news. Hearts are failing, people are spun into deep depression, and others are resorting to suicide because they have no hope. And it's true...if they are living for the things of this earth, they're right...they don't have hope. Their hope is in this earth and this earth is going to perish. One day it will be destroyed along with everything in it. "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up" (2 Peter 3:10).

Times like these, remind me of the words of Jesus, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6: 19-21).

If you've repented of your sins, if you've been born again, if you've been forgiven by God through the finished work of Christ on the cross, then He redeemed you...He saved your soul from the grave and from everlasting torment! Just imagine…this earth is as close to Hell that you (the believer) will ever get! But the opposite is true for the unbeliever. This earth is the closest that the unbeliever will ever get to Heaven.

For the Christian, the Gospel produces hope that is not a wish or desire but a steadfast reality. It is not subjective but objective, it is laid up for you in heaven. So what is the hope we have as Christians?

Answer: Eternal life with God Almighty, heavenly glory, treasures in heaven, an inheritance that can’t and won't be stolen or lost. Just think of that. You inheritance can never be stolen. It can never be lost. What a relief! We can rest knowing that God will oversee our inheritance and He is faithful. He will do as He has promised in His Word. He will not let us down. So if you're a Christian tonight, you can rejoice knowing that your reward and inheritance is in heaven...it's secure...and won't fade away. And that, my friends, is something we can be thankful for. "Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the LORD" (Psalm 31:24).

Perhaps your reading this and you're not a Christian and you've been placing your hope in things that will fade away and not last...and you've lost hope. Let me ask you a few questions: Have you ever thought about death? Have you ever thought about how one day everything you hold dear to you (your spouse, children, family members, home, car, etc.) will all be striped away by this thing called death. Do you have the answer for death? Have you ever wondered why we die? Where will you go after you die? Where will you spend all eternity when your life here on earth is over?

Think about it. The ultimate statistic is that 77 people out of 77 people die. That means you won't escape death. I won't escape death. No one will! And eternity is a long time. In fact, just think, it's forever and ever and will never end. I'm writing this because I care about you and want you to know that there's nothing more important than where you go after you die. I almost died 3 times!

Remember Augustus?? He was on The Way of the Master Radio earlier this year. He just "happened" to be wandering around the mall with no place to go. Then we ran into eachother and I asked him,
"Do you have any thoughts about God and spiritual things?"
"For sure...I've got plenty to say!" He responded. And instantly he wanted to talk about God. So I put him on The Way of the Master Radio. We finally got the footage together...watch and see what he had been asking God...

Enter to Win MY LAST Copy of "The Love Dare" (Autographed by Kirk Cameron) as seen in the movie FIREPROOF.

We're switching things up a bit for this entry. To Enter the Drawing to win this autographed book, here's what you should do:

We have installed a hit counter today (on the right side of my blog under the profile) and if you're on my blog when the hit counter turns to 15,000...you win a copy of "The Love Dare" (signed by Kirk Cameron). But first read the details to claim the book.

Okay, I realize it may take a year for my blog to get that many hits...but we will extend this drawing until we hit the 15,000 mark...even if it takes a while. :-)

Here's what you should do. If you are the 15,000th person to view my blog, either take a photo of my blog and email (email [at] fishwithtrish.com) it to me as proof that you were the 15,000th person, or hit the "print screen" button and that will capture the blog (make sure you can see the hit counter before you hit the "print screen" button you can paste the picture onto a paint document after you print screen)...then send me an email as proof that you were the 15,000th person (it should look sort of like what I've capture here on the right). If it get's close to the 15,000th mark (within 15 hits give or take) send me a photo and if no one sends a photo of the blog with the counter at "15,000", we will choose the person who comes closest to the 15,000th mark to win the book.
Open to U.S. residents only.

"The Love Dare" it is based off the movie FIREPROOF. Did you know that only five times before FIREPROOF came along had a movie been made for a budget of $500,000 or less and done more than $30 million in box-office receipts. FIREPROOF has done extremely well in the theatres! You can check out the website at http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/.

The number 1 most frequently asked question at Fish with Trish is...drum roll please...

"Where can I find a good church?"

There are a few ways to find a good church. First, if you're in the Dallas/Fort Worth area I highly recommend the church that I attend...Sovereign Joy Community Church (SJCC) in Keller, Texas. Sovereign Joy is comprised of a people devoted to the Scriptures and committed to live for the glory of God. Where other churches have emphasized church growth, and seeker sensitive presentations of the gospel, SJCC desires to strike at something more biblical and historic.

If you're not in Dallas/Fort Worth, I'd recommend visiting 9Marks, which has a church finder. Type in your zip code, and see which churches are near you. The churches listed on 9Marks subscribe to good doctrine.

In addition to that, The Master's Seminary posts a map where you can find Master's graduates that are pastoring churches in your area. Just because a Pastor graduated from Master's doesn't mean he's solid, but chances are good that he is. At the very least you'll know he received solid Biblical training and the church where he serves would be a good one to check out.

Also, you can check out My Fishing Hole and view the churches that are listed. My Fishing Hole is a Living Waters site where you can find churches in your area who are teaching The Way of the Master Training Courses and evangelizing biblically—which is typically a sign of a healthy church.

And I would recommend that you get plugged into the Ambassador’s Alliance Fellowship online and meet other people who evangelize and perhaps you will find someone who knows of a solid church in your area.

Hedonist agrees to read scripture

Dictionary.com describes a Hedonist as a
"a person whose life is devoted to the
pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification."

Meet Luis he was born in Boston. Luis was on
The Way of the Master Radio Hour 2 on Tuesday. He recently moved to
Texas and said, "I can't stand it here because the party life is terrible."

When I asked him where a person goes after they die he responded,
"I believe that when a person dies they go into the ground just like a dog."

My friend Gigi and I spoke with Luis for
almost an hour after the program and Luis had
a lot to say and so did we. So we preached the Gospel to him
and defended the faith as he threw different questions our way.

He enjoyed the gospel tracts. And I read him parts of Ephesians 5
and almost the entire chapter of Romans 1...
and he stood there completely still--listening intently.

And right before we left he said,
"You'll hear back from me...I'm gonna take you up
on your challenge and read the whole bible
but you might not hear back from me for a while."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"Because the bible is a big book isn't is and it
will take me a long time to get through." He said with a smile.
"It sure is...so I tell you what Luis...
Why don't you read the book of John
(you can read it in one night) and after you're done...
shoot me an email or comment on my blog..." I proposed.
"Sure thing...you have my word on it." He assured us.
Let's pray Luis reads the bible and recognizes his sinful
state before a holy and just God and that he will fling himself on God's
mercy by repenting and trusting in Christ to cleanse him from his sin.

It starts about 20 minutes in to the hour.

Chad was going through some tough times when I found him...

I found Chad walking alone down the street near a local outdoor mall area.
He was on his way to his storage unit.
"Do you mind sharing your thoughts about God on the radio." I asked.
"Sure...I'll do it." He replied.
Do you have any religious background." I questioned.
"Yes. I left the Baptist faith and converted to Catholicism years ago." He explained.

He shared his heart with me and then Todd Friel
on The Way of the Master Radio on Tuesday and
then Todd shared the Gospel with him.
My good friend Gigi and I prayed for him
before he left. We prayed that God would be the
chief treasure of his life. He was grateful.
When we were about to leave, it seemed like he was tearing up
and I think Gigi and I were about to tear up too.

"I left the Baptist Church because there were far too many rules to keep."

Meet Gail. She was on Hour 2 of
The Way of the Master Radio on Monday.
She grew up in the Baptist Church but she
left because she felt there were "too many rules to keep."
Todd Friel did a great job of sharing the Gospel with her...
And after the program, I helped her
see her misconceptions of the Baptist Church.
Then I gave her one of each tract I had in my purse.
She was very grateful.

Finally, we get a Jehovah’s Witness to talk on air!

Meet Jesus (pronounced "Hey-Soos") he was on
The Way of the Master Radio today.
Yes...I just about fell over because it's rare to
find a Jehovah's Witness that is open to talk about the
Gospel in any way shape or form, unless they knock
on your door...then it's a different story.

In the past 2 years, I've been to the local Kingdom Hall
and even made a few phone calls to the "Watch Tower"
head quarters in New York to see if they would be open to
a short conversation...but they wouldn't budge at all.
So, I thought I'd never find a Jehovah's Witness that was
willing to be on the air until...today.

I shared the Gospel (and read John 1) to his
girlfriend "Pearla" while he was on the air with
Todd Friel in the background
("Pearla" didn't want to be photograph though).

You can't tell by the look on his face, but Jesus really liked the
curved illusion tract...but like any good Jehovah's Witness,
he declined the offer to take a set home.

"Would you come to my house Jesus?...
my husband and I would be delighted to talk with you more."
I inquired.
"Sure...I would probably send another witness that
lives closer to you, but I'm sure we can send someone over."
He answered.

Enter to Win a Free Copy of Ray Comfort's NEW HARDCOVER BOOK "World Religions in a Nutshell"!

Okay, so I'm giving away my only copy of Ray's new hardcover book, "World Religions in a Nutshell". I've read almost the entire thing...in fact, I stayed up late one night reading it, and couldn't put it down. So my goal is to have it read by the time I mail it off to one of you next week.

Perhaps you're wondering what it's about. "World Religions in a Nutshell" will give you all the information you need to reach the lost effectively in just 208 pages. This book clearly explains the difference between Christianity and the other major religions and will arm you with all the ammunition you need to go out into the battle with confidence.

"I'm glad Ray made a book like this...it's concise yet thorough, it's factual and accurate, and covers Judaism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam, Roman Catholicism and so much more all in a "nutshell."-- Emilio Ramos, Pastor and Teacher Sovereign Joy Community Church

"Imagine you are on CNN LIVE and the host quoted John 14:6, and then asked you if you believe that Jesus is the only way to God. How would you answer him? What would you say if he then asked if good Jews go to Heaven? Could you give a reasonable answer? I wrote World Religions in a Nutshell so that the average Christian could succinctly show the uniqueness of Christianity, and how it does something that all the other religions don't do. Personally, I feel extremely intimidated by books on world religions that have an eight-inch spine. I made sure we kept this book precise and concise for others, who like me, have a short attention span but want to learn." --Ray Comfort

To Enter the Drawing to Win an Copy "World Religions in a Nutshell", Here's What You Should Do: Leave a comment below with your name and some way for me to contact you if you win (email or blog link is fine--as long as there's an email address attached to the blog link). If you aren't able to leave a comment send your entry to email [at] fishwithtrish.com. Comments will be opened through next Monday and a winner will be randomly chosen next Tuesday. Baby Sue has no shame...

Justin Peters was in town and stopped by my house today in his brand new van.

And of course, you know who...had to play with him.
Baby, my dog, has taken a real liking to Justin.

She had no shame helping herself inside his van. :-)

You can visit Justin's ministry HERE.

He chose Christianity over Islam...

Shion was on The Way of the Master Radio last Thursday.
He was raised in a Muslim/Christian home.
"I chose Christianity over Islam but I'm struggling
with how Christianity can be be so
black and white...you know heaven and hell...
but what about those people that never hear of Jesus"
Ray Comfort answered Shion's question during the segment.
And as Ray began taking him through
the 10 Commandments I watched him start to
puff...puff...puff away on his cigarette rather quickly...
I guess the Law has that sort of effect on people. :-)

Shion was very reasonable and spoke with me
for quite a while after the program.
He got a good look at the curved illusion gospel tracts too...

Shion admitted that he never read the majority
of the bible before. By the end of the witnessing encounter
he gladly agreed to read the book of John and Ephesians 5.

Hour 1 The Way of the Master Radio

Meet Lee. He was raised Mormon but said, "I'm not
a practicing Mormon because there are far too many
rules to keep." He heard the biblical Gospel today!

After the program, Lee was so grateful for the Gospel Tracts...

Look at the smile on his face...he was totally blessed by the tracts
and the talk with Ray Comfort and Todd Friel.
Lee said he would consider everything. To listen to the broadcast click here:

Be sure of it...the liberal media wouldn't cover this...

Yesterday, I was in California for the Ambassadors' Academy and while we were on Hollywood Blvd open-air preaching, doing one-2-ones and passing out tracts... a large group of Christian young people, that weren't associated with us, did something that caught my attention. Watch this--it's very encouraging...
