Emmanuel and I went to a nursing home recently to preach the gospel. It's walking distance from our home which is convenient.
I ministered to an 88 yr old lady named “Alice Good” and explained to her that she wasn’t “good” even though she thought she was.
Emmanuel disappeared for a few minutes and when I found him I asked, “What were you doing?” he said, “Putting a lady in bed.”
“You did what!?” I exclaimed.
To which he answered, “Yes. She asked me to lift her up from her chair and put her in bed. So I did. And then the next thing she asked me to do was to change her diaper!…but I called for help.”
*Relief*
“Then she motioned like she wanted a drink and asked me for a “pop” (7up) several times. I guess she really wanted a soda.” He explained.
We went back less than two weeks later with the 7up in hand. We approached her room with excitement to quench her thirst, but she wasn’t there...
She had died.
“Each day brings us closer to death. If your treasures are on earth, that means each day brings you closer to losing your treasures.” - Randy C. Alcorn
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” – Jesus (Matt 6:19-20).
Help us, Lord, to be wise and teach us to store our treasures in Heaven.
“The
most important thing in life is to be ready for death. So ready to die
that when it comes time to die all you have to do is die. There is a
here and hereafter & either in heaven with Christ or banished in
hell.” – Bob Jennings (Preached at a Funeral in 2008, Bob Jennings is now with the Lord)

Praise God for both of you and your faithfulness. What a powerful story. Thank you for sharing and reminding us all that we need to be witnessing to everyone. So many thing that the elderly are just of an older generation and they are probably saved....Vince and I have found that is not true at all. The elderly need to be reached just as much as anyone.
Praying for you all! Love ya sis!
Austin and I are laughing at the part where Emmanuel was asked to change the diaper. So funny!
And wow, she died. Right before she was going to get her soda. Hopefully she is a believer or she will be longer for just one drop of that soda for all eternity. :(
Also, God is good. Austin pointed out rule number 2, that if I don't say something respectful about God, my comments won't be published. :)
