Why can't God heal amputees?

An atheist emailed me on Monday after I posted a blog about Lauren Scruggs who lost her left hand and now her left eye after the horrific propeller accident. Here's what he wrote:

"Why didn't God just re-attach the limb and eye? Moreover, why didn't God just prevent the accident in the first place. Why can't God heal amputees? J.E. Hill"

Thank you for writing, J.E. God does all things after the counsel of His eternal and immutable will. They asked Jesus the same question, 'Why can't He just deliver himself off that cross and ease His suffering?' Also, the Devil proposed the same sort of questioning when Jesus was fasting, 'Why doesn't God feed you or keep you from dying if you throw yourself of a cliff?'. So it sounds to me like you are in similar company with the Devil and those that hated Jesus Christ. The simple answer is that God only heals when it is according to His divine purposes.

"God will rid the creation of all evil, suffering, pain, tears, and defects. We call that the 'church triumphant' when God will crush all of His enemies under His feet. Scripture does not promise us health, wealth, and prosperity. We are for now 'the church militant' called to endure trials and tribulations, physical suffering is but one aspect of the human suffering which God has ordained for man: "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God." Acts 14:22 - Emilio Ramos

God does re-attach body parts:
Jesus reattached Malchus’ ear (Luke 22:50-5) which was cut off by Peter’s sword - so He is capable of doing it - if it is His will. Also in Matt 26, Mark 14 and John 18
I suppose the atheist is asking the question mockingly, but if God can create - and raise from the dead - attaching new body parts would certainly be possible (Matt 19:26).

Jesus restored Malchus' severed ear with a mere touch.

For Jesus to restore lost sinners was infinitely more costly.

I pray that E.J. Hill will one day enjoy the experience of that restoration.

And besides, it is better to enter into eternal life with only one eye or one hand than with your whole body be thrown into hell at the final judgment.

God works in mysteriously convenient ways.

God works in mysteriously convenient ways.

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
(John 6:29)

Happy Christmas, Azou : )
