Yolanda, a member in our church, has an interesting job. She is an embalmer and a funeral director. Yesterday, I asked her, "Do you like your job?" She seemed a bit surprised, yet pleased, that I was interested enough to ask. Her reaction told me that probably not many people engaged her in talk about her vocation.

As Christians, we really should be thinking about the brevity of life, the coming departure from this life and this world, and of what happens after that departure.

That brings me to the scripture passage you selected, Trish, and what Jesus said about laying up treasure in heaven. Yes, we are to be living our lives with that ultimate goal of heaven in view; but what exactly is this treasure he was talking about.

As I was thinking this through, I asked myself, "Well, what is precious to Jesus?" Isn't it the people that he bought with his own life's blood? Yes. That must be it.

So wouldn't the treasure that we lay up in heaven be the people who we have had part in leading to Christ? Think of the joy of people in heaven saying, "You are the one who showed me my sin, and told me about the Lord Jesus."

Now, that's a treasure.

Ever since I became a Christian death is something I think about daily...even perhaps several times a day.

I got saved and instantly eternity was stamped on my eye lids. I know life is short and one day the cold winds will blow over our tombstone so it's what we do for Christ that matters. He's the reason I live.

Have you seen the tract that I designed?

Before I posted this picture of the Uhaul carrying away someones belongings I hadn't yet read the email that I'm about to share with you. It reminds me that life here on earth is short and that we need to redeem the times for the days are evil. It's from a dear brother that attended one of the Ambassador Academy's last year.

Here's the email:

"Hi Trish,

I am grateful for all you do. You are very inspirational and encouraging.

Thank for the BBC feature regarding the 13 yr old girl. Is WOTM going to get a copy or how can a person get a copy?

I am planning to order some more headstone tracts. They are great. I will mail soon. I am going to give you some extra money for your ministry.

Lastly, I wanted to tell you that Mary Anne died suddenly, unexpectedly and without any warning. We read the Bible, went to bed, told each other that we loved each other, hugged and kissed, went to sleep and 20 minutes later she was dead. Apparently from a heart attack.

I am attaching a tract that a lady from our church asked to write about Mary Anne's testimony. This came to her mind in the middle of the night 2 days before the service. Everyone who came got a copy. Great way to draw a crowd. I am focusing on witnessing. Our experience together at the Alliance training transformed our lives. MA was handing out tracts the day she died.

Full steam ahead!

Love in Christ,

Duane"

I have seen that tract, and have thought about that "dash" every day since I first read it. I didn't know you designed it.

So this is where stranger is hanging out ? I got your e-mail Craig.

I witnessed to my older sister two days ago and brought up this subject up to her. I talked about how short life is and what happens after you die. She is 52 years old and unsaved. It breaks my heart every time I think of her.
